Project description

We plan to use renderman to render a complex scene and make an animation out of it. The scene will ideally contain the following dynamic elements: a fire place with a fire going in it, dynamically lighting the room, a cup of coffee, steam escaping to accent the scene, and a window directly in front of the view frame, with interesting refraction and dripping water droplets on the glass. There will also be less interesting, though hopefully just as good looking elements, such as a chair, a table, the fireplace hearth, and a bookcase. (And of course walls and carpet)

Deliverable breakdown

1st Deliverable - April 19th

We plan on having these things completed by the 1st Deliverable:

design completed (what objects, where, what color scheme and textures)
researching shader techniques for fire, steam, and water
started modeling objects and placing in room (no textures or shaders)

2nd Deliverable - May 3rd

We plan on having these things completed by the 2nd Deliverable:

tweaking of object positions (all simple objects done)
textures and shaders found and work being done to get shaders right

Final Deliverable - May 10th

We plan on having these things completed by the Final Deliverable:

complete scene: bookcase, table, chair, coffee cup, saucer, floor, wall, fire, fireplace, window, steam, water drops
animation of all dynamic elements
optional extras: cat, fireplace tools, throw rug, person in chair (yeah, right)

Work breakdown
