Drones of the Ta'bar'pur arrive, and the "party" unleashes a terrible onslaught upon them. When the drones are backed up by a beholder, apparently a higher-ranking drone, one of the party is killed. And then a Ta'bar'pur arrives from a huge black ship, flanked by iron golems, all the party can do is try to run.
If the Ta'bar'pur are so deadly that even the horrific beholders are slaves to them, then what hope does the party have? The party needs to find some way to put right what apparently went wrong, and get the timeline back on its proper course.
The Ta'bar'pur could really be anything. The cloak of shadows that surrounds them could be an illusion, a disguise, clothing, or even the natural appearance of the Ta'bar'pur. No one knows for sure.
Nothing's unbeatable. I'm not saying the party can take them, but they're certainly not unbeatable.
I'm having a great time with the Ta'bar'pur language. Drake has learned it, at some... small personal cost. And others could learn it in time as well. Although it's never going to be easy. A Tongues Spell won't do it alone. There's always a price.
Well, we'll have to hope that death in the alternate universe doesn't translate to death in this one.
What are they, anyway? Really?
Hell. Worse than hell. You saw the metaphor of the WorldRose, with all the gods and the whole world being part of that flower?
Now imagine agent orange.
We've seen that they do have weaknesses, however. Their language apparently limits their thinking. They are less resistant to divine magic than they are to arcane magic. And, theoretically, they could be killed.
We'll see.
