Ordinary results shy away from you. You more often see the best -- and worst -- results when chance is involved.

Distort Luck is a general feat. It may be taken up to seven times. Its effects stack as described below. While potentially any class can take it, the Dungeon Master may want to limit this feat to Prestige Classes such as the Fatespinner, particular types of Bards, or characters who are half- or full-Cartoon.

If you have taken this feat, you will shy away from rolling d20. You roll a smaller die. The type of die depends on how many times you have taken this feat. Instead of rolling d20, you roll a smaller die, depending on how many times you have taken this feat, and map that result via the table to d20-space.

You may not use your smaller die for "to hit" or damage rolls.

How to use this table:

First find how many times you have taken this feat, in the Distortion column. Use that to select your die.

When you roll your die, consult the result in your row, read up to the d20 row. Average the lowest and highest values that correspond to yours, rounding towards the center (10 or 11 on d20) if necessary. Parentheses in the table below indicate the ending score.

Example: You have taken Distort Luck 5 times. You roll a 2 on d4. The table gives 2 through 10 as possible values on d20. Averaging 2 and 10, you get 6. Your roll is equivalent to 6 on d20.

Example: You have taken this feat 2 times. You roll 3 on d10, which maps to 4 and 5 on d20. The average is 4.5, and rounding towards the center gets you the equivalent of 5 on d20. Had you rolled 7 on d10, you would end up with the equivalent of 14 on d20.

If the Dungeon Master permits, this feat can be taken up to 7 times. If you have taken this feat 6 times, you may roll "to hit" on your smaller die, and check for critical successes or failures on d20. If you have taken this feat 7 times, you may also use the smaller die to check for critical successes or failures.

Yes, this means that combats will be totally insane.

As a side note, this feat was inspired by Mihoshi's incredible (un?)luck in Tenchi Muyo.
