Episode Number: (TG102)
Original Airdate: 9/2000
The party enters the keep and finds that there are different varieties of goblins... and they're all unpleasant.
Lome is a fascinating character. On one hand, it seems odd to have a character who is stronger, smarter, wiser, and faster than anyone else in the party. It might seem to be unbalancing, given that he can cast spells in full armor and has proficiency in the longsword due to his elven heritage.
But, hey, it worked for Spock on Star Trek.
Goblins were just placeholder monsters because the Monster Manual hadn't come out yet.
I had a lot of fun with goblins. It was great to put a new spin on an old monster, really give the audience something unexpected. As for the Monster Manual accusation (man, the number of times I've heard that one)... were the Octopiri in the Player's Handbook Survival Supplement? Were the I'kliat in the Survival Supplement? Maybe I wasn't just using goblins because they were one of only five or six monsters in the Survival Guide. Maybe there was a reason for the goblins being there.
