Neutral Good
The Older of the FairSisters if the Goddess of Death. She is popular with the elders of most good races, as she is seen as a guide who helps make the peaceful transition from one realm to the next. She is in many ways more a goddess of fate than death specifically, because she has access to healing spells as well. Everyone comes to the Older Sister in their own time, and not before. The Older Sister is saddened by most undead, and is greatly disturbed by sentient undead.
If a small town has only one priestess, she may be a priestess of the Older Sister. She heals those who can be healed, and helps gently into the afterlife those whose time has come. Because priests of the Older Sister may take Death as one of their domains, they may cast spells that are by nature evil. When cast by such a priest, these spells are not evil. Their use is closely monitored by both the priesthood and the Older Sister herself, but they have no alignment consequences. For example, the Death Knell spell, used against an evil opponent, is an appropriate use of an enemy's power against him, and used against a dying ally (with the Older Sister's approval) it is a means of using the ally's power to help avenge their own death.
When turning undead, priests of the Older Sister have two options. They may turn as normal, in which case they receive a +1 bonus to their turning check. Or, optionally, once per week, they may attempt a check against one and only one creature with a -4 penalty. If the check succeeds, the creature's soul is returned to its body -- it is a redeemed undead, with the alignment of its former self. These creatures are often sources of pathos -- a redeemed vampire still thirsts for blood, and hates himself for doing so. They are not under the control of the priest who redeemed them, and most of them will attempt to make amends for what their undead self has done, and then destroy themselves as quickly as possible.
Priests of the Older Sister walk a difficult path. Often, they will be instructed to kill an injured NPC rather than healing them, and other times they will be instructed not to kill someone who, in their opinion, deserves death. They are forbidden to kill except in self-defense or when someone's time has come. They are not seen as evil, however. Though villagers will mourn the death of one of their own, they will understand when the priestess tells them that it was her time.
