The battle with Tar'haer'raloth continues. Aldamar is slain. Aldea, having followed the party, appears and joins the fray. Tar'haer'raloth continues to dish out serious damage to all the characters, destroying a couple magical items. After Timus dispels many of the dragon's protective spells, Arlemis and Gryff take the dragon down.
The twisted mind a chess-game's pawn
A war of dwarves is hard upon
An insect's mind in flitting mage
That flies above the dancing rage
Out! Ouuuuuuuuuuut!
Very cool, guys. Excellent team effort.
I know that Gryff probably would have liked a few more damage-crunches, but holding the dragon off on his own for a round, and calling in the Dispels, probably won the game. Sendant's heals and magical support kept people alive. Tierney was a heck of a distraction, and buffed people to the point where they could actually hit the darn thing. And Arly and Timus nickel-and-dimed Tar right out of the picture. Everybody did their part. Extremely cool.
Note: The dragon had a Base AC of 27. With Bracers +6 AC and the Shield spell, that takes it to an even 40. And he had both Endure and Protection from Elements:Fire on him, too, along with Protection from Good, when Timus dispelled everything. So those double-dispels were a good idea.
And dang. ENTANGLE. Who would have thought it would come down to ENTANGLE?
Again, great job -- very cool.
I thought we might pull a fast one on the dragon by getting into its cave and making it inhospitable -- or at least removing the cave as a viable option. That failed dismally. At least I figured out why I didn't want to take a bath in that pool...
How the hell do those little bracers work on a huge dragon anyway?
I wonder if we can do something about Aldamar.
And as for Aldea's comments...I don't like them.
(Eyeing the severed head...) He has paid for his evil ways. The gift was wasted on him. (Turns away in disgust)
