Episode Number: (TG506)
Original Airdate: 12/2002
Sendant and Arlemis escape from the clutches of the Oracles. While Arlemis rests in a healing sleep, the rest of the party learns that Karilon has been banished for ordering the party's raid on the Ironpass Library. When they find out that Karilon is planning to set off a Tasan in the middle of Ironpass to pre-emptively stop their foreseen aggression, several party members try to stop him. Initially unsuccessful, they return in greater numbers and are able to get the Tasan away from him.
It is easy to say that Sendant made the immediate good choice, but Sendant also has a brother living in Ironpass. As for the rest, it seemed to be fairly murky:
It came down to discussions of whether it was worth it to get rid of the Evil elements of Ironpass by killing a bunch of innocent civilians as well. Some people thought it was okay. Others did not.
Tierney: (scorched and frazzled) Guess what? Karilon has a hammer that shoots lightning bolts!
Gryff: That's something I'd like to see.
Tierney: Not really.
Emcee: Tierney, I'm so glad you came. Speaking of which...
Mike: (looking at spell selection) Hmm... This is much harder when there's no evil here to smite.
I really promise, next week, OBVIOUSLY EVIL CREATURES.
But it was interesting to see what people of similar alignments did differently in a tough moral dilemna.
OK, so it all worked out for the best, I guess. It easily could have not...and for what? To save a bunch of scheming Simons? I mean I'd be sorry for Emcee and Sendant and all, but really... there's the greater good and all. If I have to pick between Twingate and Ironpass... I'll pick Twingate. I wonder what that note we got out of Arlemis' head while he was sleeping will say when Jazen is done decrypting it. Hmm.
Zzzzzzz.
