TG512
Episode Number: (TG512)
Original Airdate: 1/2003
In a pivotal episode, Tierney is recognized as the Sorrowful Observer of Truth, the party discusses the TBP in the safety of the Chime Room, and the party finally returns to Twingate and destroys the monster that had been controlling Duke Eledin. This all occurs in the aftermath of Griltar's destruction.
Watch For:
- Arlemis hitting a monster for 79 points of damage -- and that's with some bonuses accidentally left out.
- The fun and excitement of a Prismatic Spray with two failed saves.
Plot Points
- According to Catan, the humans attempted to gain control of an artifact protected by the dragons. The artifact did not control dragons.
- The TBP have numerous factions, and they do not all work together well.
- The TBP have multiple ways to enter this world.
- Eledin is being controlled by something called a Delt'eel.
- Tierney learned this information from Baelin.
- Tierney's monks are trying to assist Bergis, which is cut off from the rest of the Demonwood towns.
- The Demonwood towns are under the control of the Firm Order -- non-Lawful priests are being kicked out, and Detect Law is being used at the city gates to keep out unwelcome individuals.
- Arly is outed as a TBP-slayer slowly becoming Undead and working for the Cryptlord.
- Sendant isn't necessarily happy with that prospect, but is satisfied that Arlemis isn't actually evil.
- (add more -- I can't remember what the party does and does not know)
Unanswered Questions
- Why did Baelin tell Tierney about the Del'teel?
- What is Eledin doing now?
- How is the party going to deal with an insane minotaur?
Analysis
- A huge plot episode. At least two good-sized plot threads have been somewhat resolved, and the party is powerful enough to make these kinds of attacks in a single outing.
- It's possible that Baelin and the Delt'eel controlling Eledin were from separate factions. Possibly Baelin had some plans for Eledin but the Delt'eel interfered.
DMP Speaks
Oh, yeah. Endgame, baby. All the threads starting to come together.
And after playing Sendant briefly, I now understand why he uses Blade Barrier all the time... it's just a damn fine spell.
The party now knows some new things about the TBP:
There are three factions:
- One is dedicated to finding a way to enter the world.
- One is dedicated to (a) certain artifact(s) (the dragons know about these).
- One is dedicated to preventing anyone from learning certain secrets.
The faction which is trying to enter the world has three routes:
- One is through the extermination of a single race. They do not know which race, but Tierney thinks he does.
- One is through Eledin's chessboard.
- One is not known, but apparently is not currently likely.
