This scrawny, middle-aged man has close-cut dark hair which is graying somewhat at the temples. His eyes are as dark as his hair, and his skin tone suggests that he may have some Jade Plains ancestry in him. (If asked, he says that even his own research hasn't confirmed much about his ancestry.) He wears a robe which tends to get in the way of his feet occasionally, and he carries a staff and a bag full of books. On a cord around his neck is a holy symbol of the Hearthmistress.

Amniz is a genuinely helpful man who likes answering questions, giving guidance to the perplexed, and discussing differing philosophies. He has been known to take part in the occasional good-natured debate. He has a fondness for obscure intellectual minutiae which he attempts to decipher through the mysteries of the pantheon of gods. He is willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, though he can be vicious if he gets burned. He perceives himself as something of an anti-trickster.

Amniz has spent nearly all of his life in the area of the northern Demonwood towns. If asked, he says he is from somewhere near Bergis. He has spent some time traveling between the various towns of the northern Demonwood, and he claims to know the area fairly well.

Amniz could make a decent diplomat or official, though he claims he is not very interested in temporal power or any sort of worldly authority, and he is very careful not to get too close to the local rulers. He believes that the law is to be respected, as long as it also respects individual dignity.

Amniz maintains that most mysteries can be solved through research and/or divine inspiration. The rest are for the gods alone.

Random note: the name Amniz Veyib was generated by the clever application of d20 (consonants) and d6 (vowels), as well as some heuristics on what would sound good.
