Analysis:

This appears to be a fight the party wasn't looking for. The Tanner alludes to Deshimina, alleged priestess of the Balance, who healed Arlemis in "Bare Witnesses". He also alludes to Falwar, who Tierney investigated in "Dragon Drop". Both of these people obviously have something to hide.

DMP Speaks:

I've been considering carefully how to handle death in this world. On the one hand, this is heroic fantasy, and people get raised from the dead in heroic fantasy quite a bit. On the other hand, it should never be a minor inconvenience. People in the Twingate Universe don't get raised from the dead very often. Think of it like this: there's a limited amount of life on the planet, or in the universe. If you believe in reincarnation, then bringing them back is messing up the gears, leaving a gap for wherever that life-force was needed next. Or maybe because they lived, someone else had to die. In any event, it's something done very rarely, and only when there's a genuine need. The OlderSister is a good goddess, and people don't automatically think of death as something to be beaten.

Gryffid Speaks:

This was not your finest hour.

Okay, fine. So I'm only a Dwarf. An impressive one, at that, but I'm not invulnerable, and I'm not, by any means, invulnerable or infallible. I'm strong, and I'm tough, and I do what I can with it.

Perhaps you should trim your ego down a bit?

If all this børk were happening to you, you'd want some space to toot your own horn too.

Then if not your ego, perhaps your language?

(laughs) So I take it you have a problem with the renaming of this mission? I took a tune from an old Dwarven opera, mucked the words around a bit (Common is so limited sometimes) and with some consulting from Arlemis, I came up with this.

(sung with relish and bawdy irony, almost entirely on-key)

Chorus:
The pain in Glain is mainly in my arse,
The pain in Glain is mainly in my arse.

Arlemis:
How does your arse feel?

Gryffid:
It's in pain, it's in pain!

Arlemis:
And where's your børking arse?

Gryffid:
In Glain, in Glain!

Chorus:
The pain in Glain is mainly in my arse,
The pain in Glain is mainly in my arse!

It rhymes a lot better in Dwarven. You'll just have to trust me on that.
