Redirected from: Shell Game
Episode Number: (TG608)
Original Airdate: 5/2002
Exhausted, the party explores the city, pondering the fate of the Sebereich. They discover a vast dome-covered body of water with a giant creature
at the bottom, in the center of which is a closed shell. They discover they
are too late...too late and a vicious battle with half-dragon dire sharks ensues. Now even more exhausted, they sleep, then teleport the next day to
Ironpass, where all seems moderately well and Simon relays various important news.
Watch For:
- The old "swap the pearl for a beholder" trick.
- 50 foot long flying sharks and a near TPS (Total Party Swallow).
- Gryff decapitating a dire shark. From the inside.
- Timus casting Horrid Wilting.
Plot Points
- The Sebereich has, in fact, been stolen. The presence of a TBP-spawn in its place points the finger at the forces of not-so-good.
- The "True Dragons" seem to all be dead, though a thorough investigation was not made.
- Now that Simon has successfully conquered Ironpass, they are now referring to the Black Pillar as the Weeper.
- It would appear that Nyralla's companion's scrying was incorrect...or he was lying about Simon claiming to be Em-shil-vish II and having killed Emcee (among others).
- Humans sorcerers are losing their abilities.
- Simon has regained his magical abilities as a wizard.
- A TBP ship attempted an attack on the Library of Ironpass. According to Simon, the TBP seem interested in destroying all arcane knowledge.
Unanswered Questions
- Are the "true dragons" really dead?
- What was Nyralla's companion doing under one of the pillars racing around frantically?
- What will the TBP do now that they have the Sebereich?
- Is Simon really the nice guy he seems to be?
- Why are sorcerers losing their powers?
Analysis
Quotable Notes
Mike: Wouldn't an undead Kazek not die as often?
(Pat describes a horrendously giant serpentine creature lying dead nderwater.)
Colin (as Mike is about to say something): No!
Mike: Don't we still have the staff?
Patrick: There's not enough room [on the pillar] to do anything combat-related.
Dave: That's okay, I don't plan on fighting the shell.
(Patrick smiles.)
Dave: Gaaah!
Dave (as Tim is swallowed by a half-dragon dire shark): I have a little bit left in me... Teleport.
Patrick: Where are you going?
Geordan: Twingate!
Tierney (to a dire shark he just charmed and had attacked another shark): Thank you my friend, but make it look like an accident!
Timus: I hate to play these sorts of games, but what would have happened had we not destroyed the device?
Tierney: The Penumbral Lord would have goaded us into destroying it eventually. It was a plot thing, we couldn't avoid it.
Patrick: I'm RIGHT HERE!
Colin: That's what you told us, verbatim.
Patrick: Well, yeah.
Wow... I really can run out of spells. Hmm. We seem to be 0 in 2 on saving the world recently. Perhaps we should try to improve on this a bit.
