Groth the Vengeful was a goblin monk in Salin's Keep. Charmed by Tierney, he led the party to the Mentor, and was then put into an enchanted slumber during the ensuing melee. His last waking visions were of Arly and Gryff losing to the Mentor and calling for help, breaking the rules of the duel.
Geordan says: No they didn't. Leny told the others to charge as Gryff was getting beat up.
Groth made some sort of pact or deal with an evil creature, and has become known as the Ugly Elf -- he is taller than a goblin, and his features have shifted to allow him to blend in with humans somewhat.
After attacking Gryffid, he was defeated (when Arly interfered) and has sought revenge by other means.
