Wild Accusations and Stabs in the Dark

Episode Number: (TG213)
Original Airdate: 6/2001

The party confronts the alchemist who made the poisons, and nearly uncovers the plot in the middle of the courtroom. Later, when they visit the chambers, Gryff is "killed" by Caeious, who then informs the FirmOrder that they should have included him in their plans. This ruse plays out and ends in a battle with the FirmOrder. Their happy ending is unsatisfying, though, with knowledge that many of their enemies escaped. And when they return to Twingate, they hear terrible news.

Plot Points:

Unanswered Questions:

Analysis:

A tricky ending. A lot of threads were left unfinished, and the party probably feels a lot more confused than when they started.

DMP Speaks:

You didn't tie up any of the endings!

Of course I didn't. It's the second damn season. And the party didn't find everything. I can't hand it to them on a silver platter.

Who was the original assassin?

What, you mean the guy shooting crossbow bolts at them? Well, the party did see a JadePlains rider standing with Simon with a bigass crossbow at his waist. That might lead to some questions, especially considering that the man was shooting at them early on and then at their enemies later.

What about TheBastard?

Fled.

What about Bruvar?

That's a question to ask Guard Captain Alstone. I mean, the Captain of the WyvernRiders, dying in his cell the night before the party left, it could look a mite suspicious. Almost like someone snuck in and made sure he wasn't a problem in the future.

What the hell happened with The LegionOfAdequacy?

Look, the LegionOfAdequacy might have a Chaotic Good alignment and try their best to use nonlethal force and be all merry and gay and fabulous, but when it all comes down to it, they were robbing people. And the Oathmakers needed a scapegoat. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Nice? No. But with the FirmOrder and the JustOrder trying to wrangle out a peace, well, nice doesn't really enter the picture.

Kind of makes you wonder who the real good guys are, doesn't it?

Gryff was fighting a devil and Bevrika was an angel!

Well, it does kind of look like that, doesn't it? And there are a few things that Gryff might have told people that would have cleared things up a great deal. But he didn't. So I guess we never know. :) And that's okay, too.
