TG507
Episode Number: (TG507)
Original Airdate: 12/2002
The party (save for a curiously absent Gryff) reunites in Tim's quarters.
There they discuss the ramifications of the contents of a scroll found
in Tar'haer'raloth's lair -- some of which seem to shake the foundations
of current religions, belief systems, and the nature of the universe
itself. Before they can fully philosophize on it, meteor swarms slam into
the room as a group of Thon'ri and a stone golem strike.
Watch For
- The first 9th level spell used so far.
Plot Points
- More than you can shake a stick at.
- Sendant has been recommended as Karilon's replacement. He is still not sure if he should accept.
- Tar'haer'raloth's scroll seemed to have some sort of magic that made people around it forgetful and averse to reading it.
- Tierney said that in the alternate reality, the Ta'bar'pur kept asking, "what do you feel in a moment of grief?"
- Arly said that he, too, was asked that same question -- by the CryptLord.
- Arly started to reveal the Elves' biggest secret -- where they come from.
- No one has ever seen a pregnant Elf or Goblin.
- The party has said, aloud in a non-scry-proof room, where they think the three Stones are.
- In particular, one might be in Salin's Keep; another was taken by the Aldea-Thon'ri; the last, according to the old Rider Legend, is somewhere in the north.
- Arly said that the Oracles are actually the souls of those who looked too closely at the universe and realized how it worked. Salin was one of them.
- Tim is rather skeptical of the whole thing.
- Tierney and Arly seemed to be the main targets of the Thon'ri attack.
Unanswered Questions
- Is the text on the scroll just a story? How much of it is true?
- Isn't it awfully convenient that the Thon'ri appeared right as the party started piecing together the nature of the Universe?
- Who was casting those Meteor Swarms?
Analysis
- The One that was Shattered might have become the Elves, Gnomes, and Goblins.
- The One that was Broken might have become the present day Gods.
- The Ta'bar'pur might be agents seeking to resurrect Ura, the One that Died.
- Tierney posits that the present Gods are a byproduct of emotion.
- If the Goblins are somehow involved in all this, then it may explain why the faux-Sendant room seen in There's No Place Like Home... No, Really featured windows looking out on Goblin children. In that same episode, the constructs questioned Sendant about what he knew about Goblins.
- Meteor Swarms do pretty weak damage if the party has prepared anything against fire, or isn't the direct target of the swarm.
DMP Speaks
Ya know, it's kind of cool to start to see things come together. All the little hints,
dropped from the first few episodes, all starting to gel into something big and
coherent and hopefully slightly scary. I don't think that all the cards are necessarily
on the table yet, but the tools are there, and it's going to be a hell of a ride from here
on out.
Quotable Notes
Dave: K'laehme made out like a bandit on that deal.
Mike: K'laehme IS a bandit!
Tim: Karilon was going to set off a Tasan in Ironpass, but Tierney and the others prevented him from doing so.
Arly: Why did they stop him?
Tim: I think they wanted the experience.
Tim: We've done a lot of things that no one's ever done before.
Arly: That's because we're STUPID.
Pat: Think the titans from greek mythology.
Geordan: So you mean one of them cut the balls off another one and created the gods?
Pat: ...Not exactly like that.
Mike: I check the door.
Pat: It's locked.
Mike: That's all right, I got a minotaur.
Patrick (As Thon'ri): Dominated-Sendant, we don't feel you're really being a team player. Come on, show some initiative. Go get 'em.
