The Fall of Nightshade

The battle with Reltajoon continues as a nightshade appears and fights the party. Most of the party is down and dying at any given point, with Arlemis and Sendant both falling down 100' chasms. The pillars in the room turn out to be the artifact that the party has been ordered to destroy. Timus activates the Tasan, and the party escapes to the WorldRose room seconds before all hell breaks loose. On the way out, the party encounters Simon, who tries to prevent the group from escaping the collapsing dungeon. However, Karilon arrives with a large contingent from Twingate and orders Simon to release the party. The party is lauded as heroes.

Watch For:

Aldamar healing himself through multiple wildshapes, using all his domain spells to block off the pillars so the nightshade couldn't do whatever it wanted to do to Aldea, taunting the nightshade to buy Sendant some distraction time, and eventually getting the WraithBane sundered by the nightshade before Aldy goes down.

Treasure Watch:

• Nothing new. In fact, some things were lost when the Tasan went off.

Plot Points:

• Simon's standing in the BlackPillar hierarchy is heavily damaged by the evidence linking him with the CryptLord.
• A contingent of paladins of the SkyQueen came to help Leny.
• A contingent of priests of the BrightBlade came to help Sendant.
• The FlameLancers came to help Timus
• Arlemis's group came to help him.
• Emcee came to help Tierney.
• A random bunch of dwarves in the area came to help Gryff.
• Several members of the Sepal came to help Aldamar.
• Nobody in particular came to help Aldea, mainly because she has no backstory at the moment.

Unanswered Questions:

• What was that weird glowing goo at the bottom of those chasms?
• What was Arly doing in that chasm that whole time?
• How did Karilon find out about Simon's activities?
• Who will replace Simon in the Triumvirate?
• Where did the dopplegangers go after they escaped Twingate?

Analysis:

• The party has made it out of the dungeon. Alive, even. And it's not even Christmas.
• The party has also learned not to trust Simon any farther than they can throw him, geas or no geas.
• Nightshades are nasty, nasty things. Timus was almost powerless against it, and Tierney's melee attempts at damaging it were futile at best. But it still didn't stand much of a chance against the Tasan.
• Climb and Jump are, in fact, really good skills to have.

Didn't finish anyone off. Didn't use its gaze attack. Didn't go invisible. Wasted multiple rounds trying to charm people. Only rarely flew. Spent an absurd amount of time trying to do something to Aldea instead of just finishing the party off. Yeah, it's possible that he wasn't going at full intensity...
